Give our Computer Help over Instant Messaging a Try

We think that Instant Messaging is a medium that will suit many people as a way of obtaining help and guidance in solving problems with computers.

Emails might not be immediate or interactive enough and phone calls can be hard work and call costs can be an issue.

Instant Messaging happens in real time but is less personal and more relaxed than talking on a phone.

It's not free, you pay by donating an amount of your choosing,  after your problem's been solved.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I have to do to use the service?

Just contact us via Instant Messaging using any of our 4 accounts shown above and tell us about the problem you're having.

Do I have to disclose any personal details?

Only your IM Screen Name. We don't need to know your real name, email address, street address, phone number and definitely not your creditcard details.

What happens afterwards?

If, and only if, we solved your problem we request that you donate some money to us.

How do I make a donation?

By clicking on the PayPal icon opposite and using your creditcard or existing PayPal account.

How much do I have to donate?

With a donation you choose the amount. We appreciate any payment, whatever the amount. We ask you to estimate how much it would have cost you to have someone else fix your problem. We consider that a fair amount is between 10% and 50% of this value.

Why should I bother to make a donation?

The best reason we can come up with is so that this IM Helpdesk is still operating the next time you need to use it.

What happens if I don't make a donation?

Nothing. We won't try to contact you or hassle you. If you've used us several times without making a donation we might add your screen name to our blocked list.

What's PayPal?

It's a way for private individuals and companies to send and receive money over the Internet. You can check out their website here.

You need to have an account to use Paypal but you can get one instantly, for free.

I want to make a donation but I don't want to use PayPal

No problem, we can supply details of how to pay by cheque (in pounds), electronic funds transfers, creditcards without using PayPal or whatever other method you can think of.

Our PayPal account name is Rhebus Limited.
We're based in the UK so the currency used for payments is UK Pounds.

Approximate US$ and Euro equivalents:

When are we on-line?

At present we don't have dedicated staff on-line 24 hrs a day.
We're operating this service as a trial to see if there is sufficient demand and whether the economic model is viable.... so we're on-line when we can be.
If we're not in-line when you try to connect - our apologies.
Try again a little later or leave an off-line message.

NOT SO GOOD - Look Elsewhere

Macintosh and Unix computers. Novell Networks. Hand-held Computers & Organisers. Powerpoint, Databases, Lotus Domino/Notes, Microsoft SQL Server or Citrix Metaframe.
